Planning and execution for maximum results
How do you draw attention and large crowds to a little-known, but highly prestigious sporting event? That was the question facing ZLR Ignition as we partnered with the LPGA to promote the 2017 Solheim Cup in central Iowa.
ZLR Ignition created more than 50 story features. The content played up the gorgeous golf course setting, team and captain news, as well as local tourism attractions. The aim was to convince fans from across the globe to plan a trip to Des Moines in advance of August, 2017.
Locally and regionally, media relations were planned around specific events, like local golf tournaments and team captain appearance. Then pitching and interview planning increased in critical ticket-buying windows of time during the spring and summer before the event.
The results? Team USA won the 2017 Solheim Cup! But frankly, we think Team ZLR did too. Solheim Cup attendance records were broken in 2017.
